Prerequisite: Junior status in good standing with an overall GPA of 2.75, a GPA in the major of 3.00,
and departmental approval. Graded S/U

Course Description
Supervised practical experience in some area of applied mathematics in an industrial,
business, or governmental setting. Students are required to document their work
experience and write a report which will be evaluated by their faculty supervisor in
consultation with the employers.
Course Outline
This course is designed for those students who have finished their second
year of study in Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, or Mathematics
and wish to acquire some practical training in a professional setting. In
each case, the work assignment is to be of a technical nature closely related to
the student's academic discipline or career goals. Students applying for
internship should have a good preparation in terms of coursework in order to
derive greater benefit from their work experience. At a minimum, they
should have taken MA361, MA371,
MA380, MA473, and
CS122.
